
Saskia de Wildt
Fellow
Saskia de Wildt (she/they) was born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands - where they are also currently based. They started their career in 2006 as an Art-director in the Dutch film and television industry, where they worked on multiple prize-winning productions.
In 2014, they shifted gears and sought to apply their creative skills within International Development- and Environmental Studies. Interested in the ethics of cross-cultural research and post-colonial practice, they have since been researching the knowledge politics surrounding hydropower development in the Eastern Himalayas, professional journalism, creative methods for social change and ethical knowledge conciliation around polar bears. They have also continued their artistic and creative journey, as a stage-performer and multimedia visual creator.
Central to their art and research lies the question what creative methods, and arts-based research have to offer to the (epistemic) challenges of conducting ethical and meaningful research, policy and practice. How can we conciliate different value systems, and how do we respectfully, ethically and willingly come together, while acknowledging our cultural differences?
