Dr. Gesche Krause
Senior Fellow
Gesche Krause ist eine Sozialwissenschaftlerin am Alfred-Wegener-Institut Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschung (AWI). Sie studierte an den Universitäten Kiel und Greifswald (Deutschland) und promovierte an der Universität Stockholm (Schweden). Sie arbeitete an verschiedenen internationalen Forschungseinrichtungen in Großbritannien, den USA, Brasilien, Indonesien und Neuseeland, sowie mit Privatunternehmen in Deutschland, bevor sie 2013 dem AWI anschloss. Hier ist sie für die AWI-Beiträge zur Earth System Knowledge Platform (ESKP) verantwortlich, und erforscht an den Auswirkungen der Wissenschaft auf gesellschaftliche Prozesse. Unter dem Dach der Internationalen Kommission für die Erforschung der Meere (ICES) gründete sie 2011 die Expertengruppe „Soziale und wirtschaftliche Dimensionen der Aquakultur" (WGSEDA). Im Jahr 2013 trug sie im Auftrag des WBGU (German Advisory Council on Global Change) zum Bericht „World in Transition: Regieren des Meereserbes" bei. 2016 wurde sie Vorstandsmitglied der internationalen Oceans Past Initiative (OPI). 2017 war sie über SAPEA (Science Advice for Policy by European Academies) am European Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM) für das Thema „Food from the Oceans" beteiligt.
